Hot car seized in cold call swoop
A BMW sports car has been seized as police arrest a man on the Gold Coast in relation to a “boiler room” scam operation.
The man, 28, has been charged with five counts of fraud in relation to alleged involvement in the company Charterhurst Agencies.
Detectives allege he was the operations manager of the company.
Police raided a house at Mermaid Waters and seized the vehicle under the Criminal Proceeds Confiscation Act. He will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on August 16.
Police allege Charterhurst Agencies is a cold call investment fraud operation. The company sells sports betting software.
Jack Doumani and his son John were in October charged in relation to the syndicate.
The Courier-Mail revealed earlier this year that Charterhurst Agencies was continuing to operate from offices in Bundall despite the charges.
